This paper reports on the fabrication and stabilization of a horizontal style non-controlled magnetic levitation motor. The destabilizing force in the axial direction was offset by arranging two sets of Ring Halbach Arrays and HOPG disks facing each other. A rotation speed of 200 rps was obtained by suppressing the radial whirling motion of the rotor with a permanent magnet attached to the end of the rotor shaft and eddy currents generated in a copper block adjacent to it. The estimated braking force of the copper block due to eddy currents was calculated using a model in which eddy currents are considered to be the sum of virtual circular currents.
