Abstract
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) is one of the techniques for reducing NOx emissions. EGR gas consists mainly of N2, H2O and CO2. Properties of flame diluted with EGR gas might be influenced by these components. The effects of dilution with CO2 and N2 on outwardly propagating turbulent flames were studied for stoichiometric iso-octane / air mixtures. Turbulent explosions were investigated at almost same turbulence Karlovitz number conditions. Properties of turbulent burning velocity were different between CO2 and N2 dilution. These differences may be caused by the thermo-diffusive effects on local flamelets of turbulent flame.
