Abstract
The wear of nozzle valve seat of the diesel fuel injector affects the fuel spray behavior. In this study the influence of fuel injection condition and fuel property upon the wear was investigated with a newly developed wear testing machine which is constructed based on a commercially used common-rail injection system. The temperature at nozzle valve seat and the fuel lubricity were changed as the parameter, and the result indicated that the higher temperature gives larger wear volume. Observation of worn surface by FE-SEM and surface elemental analysis by means of EPMA are also conducted.
