Abstract
The premixed charge compression ignition combustion (PCCI) can reduce NOx and Smoke simultaneously. In this study, the start of combustion was delayed to decrease the maximum pressure rise rate (dP/dθ)max of PCCI in a single cylinder diesel engine which is installed digital hydraulic variable valve actuation. The result of exhaust emissions and (dP/dθ)max of PCCI was compared with the result of diesel combustion. Also PCCI was applied at light load from low to high engine speed. At an engine speed of 1000rpm, PCCI can decrease much more NOx than the conventional diesel combustion at the loads of between 0.1 and 0.6 MPa. And also PCCI is able to decrease lower (dP/dθ)max to the same level as the diesel combustion at the loads of between 0.1 and 0.4 MPa
