Abstract
Experimental analysis of the oil consumption factors in turbocharged gasoline engine has been conducted. The oil consumption factors were separated to turbocharger, blow-by gas, oil evaporation, valve guides and piston rings. Consumption from turbocharger and valve guides was investigated by separating the oil line. Oil evaporation was investigated by using the oil with different volatility characteristics. The major contributions are oil loss via the piston ring (55 to 75 percent), oil evaporation (15 to 40 percent) and blow-by oil consumption (2 to 15 percent) at full load. Consumption from turbocharger and valve guides is almost zero percent.
