Abstract
The purpose of this work is to investigate the DME fuel adaptability of a high pressure pump with a suction control type fuel metering system which is used in a mass-produced common rail type diesel injection system, and to modify the fuel system components for DME. It was verified that the suction control type fuel metering system had adaption to DME fuel. The high pressure fuel system components such as rail volume, rail outlet orifice and high pressure pipe were optimized for DME, and very stable injection performances were obtained by the modified DME injection system.
