Abstract
CO2 reduction, energy security, and emission reduction are the critical issues in the current automotive industry. As one of the solution to these issues, Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles (PHVs), which will share both advantages with Hybrid Vehicles (HVs) and Electric Vehicles (EVs), are attracting attention recently. The authors have newly developed BLENDED type PHV which achieves 20km EV range without sacrificing base vehicle package or performance, 75% of fuel economy improvement, and also meets severest emission regulations in the world. PHVs have the potential to become popular as a realistic solution for renewable electricity usage.
