Abstract
Biodiesel fuel (BDF) has high viscosity and poor volatility. In this study, it aims at the reformulation of physical properties of BDF by mixing with ethanol. In this paper, the influence that the change in the atmosphere temperature and mixture ratio of BDF and ethanol give to the spray and combustion characteristic are evaluated by using constant volume combustion vessel. In the spray experiment, the spray characteristics were measured by shadowgraph photography and Mie-scattered light photography. In the combustion experiment, the soot formation characteristics were investigated by taking direct photograph in addition to the grasp the apparent heat release rate.
