Study of On-board Exhaust Emissions Measurement Device for Heavy Duty Vehicles

Abstract

In recent years, on-board measurement of vehicle emissions in real-world is becoming increasingly important in Europe and the United States. For on-board measurement, Portable Emission Measurement Systems (PEMS) is used. However, it is necessary to examine the measurement method of the PEMS test because there are a lot of obscure matters. This paper examined the accuracy of PEMS device under several conditions with seven heavy diesel trucks meeting Japanese recent emission regulations. As a result, the measurement accuracy of the PEMS device improved by giving some improvement.
