Abstract

Bicycle is a convenient transportation device and is used regularly. It has an effect on reduction of traffic jam and greenhouse gas. Recently, bicycle is attached a high value again from utility and environment. However, bicycle rerated traffic accidents occur at a high level and have a potential for increase. The road traffic system and traffic regulations for bicycle are not defined well. Bicycle rerated traffic accidents should be studied to reduce accidents in considering a lot of devises adopted and studied for car to car accidents. This paper describes research on bicycle rerated traffic accidents. High accident patterns were analyzed and specified. Behavior and attitude of bicyclists were studied and clarified in high accident patterns. Measures against bicycle rerated traffic accidents are proposed.
