Abstract

This study focuses on the load analysis of ravigneaux planetary gears under operating conditions using multi body dynamics that is developed to simulate gear mesh. Analytical results revealed that the rotational friction torque of pinion and a needle roller bearing behavior generate thrust force at pinion. Experimental analysis of the thrust force was carried out by using ultra-compact data logger, and the validity of numerical results was discussed by comparing to experimental ones. Furthermore, numerical calculation was carried out, it was clarified that influence of needle roller bearing clearance and gear axial width for the thrust force.
