Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of electrically assisted supercharger with variable speed, the newly developed boosting system. The newly developed boosting system enables improved fuel economy, while maintaining or improving vehicle performance. Due to the flexibility of the system and diversity of customer requirements, it is necessary to gain a better understanding of the system design. This analysis predicts the impact of system design on the electrical power split between regeneration and consumption, as well as the effects on fuel consumption. The analysis results demonstrate that this system can be tailored to a wide range of powertrain applications.
