Abstract
The purpose of this study is to visualize strain and crack propagation in high strength steels (TS: 590MPa, 980MPa). A new, simple test for crack propagation has been defined in which strain ratio is measured by multi-camera digital image and FEM analysis. The study shows that the direction of crack propagation changes with material and shape. The crack area predicted by FEM has been validated by simple physical test results.
