Abstract
Relation between nominal stress range and temperature increase at center-hole edge of plates with and without a weld bead was studied through combining elasto-plastic stress analysis under cyclic loading with heat conduction analysis of plastic energy dissipation. The temperature increases at the hole edge are relatively small in low nominal stress range, and begin to increase remarkably in higher nominal stress range. The temperature increase at the hole edge of the plate with a weld bead is little influenced by the plastic energy dissipation around the edge because of small plastic deformation around the edge especially in the weld bead.
