Abstract
This paper presents a novel topology for variable leakage flux machines(VLFs) with inverted arc shape magnet, which are designed to change magnetic flux linkage for driving cycle efficiency improvement. The proposed topology provides additional degree of freedom on leakage flux path layout, then allowing higher power capability due to lower q-axis inductance. It is shown by FEA that the speed-torque characteristic and the efficiency of proposed topology can be improve.
