Abstract
Diesel surrogate model consisting of four hydrocarbon fuel species has been applied to engine CFD simulation. In addition to the fuel oxidation reaction, poly-aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) formation mechanisms were also implemented into the model, which allows simulating soot precursor production. Soot was calculated from PAH by using method of moment model implemented in CFD code CONVERGE. In-cylinder PAHs and soot formation processes were validated by comparing with the experimental results of the 1st report.
