Abstract
A cylinder block with cylindrical bore considering deformation by assembling cylinder head and thermal stress under the highest thermal load condition is expected improving engine performances as analyzed by CAE. Test results verified that the friction force, noise level, blow-by gas flow rate, and lubricating oil consumption were reduced by cylindrical bore. Besides improved high-load performance, this cylinder block enhanced engine performance under low-load conditions with low thermal stress. Cylindrical bore has impact for reduction by 2.7% with zero pin-offset piston and improvement other performances for normal bore.
