This paper proposes a novel method for emoji disambiguation. Emoji is a characteristic of mobile phone e-mail and used instead of words or decoration. Emoji have two ambiguity, role ambiguity and word sense ambiguity. We define four emoji roles: (1) word substitution, (2) addition of a word, (3) decoration, (4) modality. The task of word sense disambiguation can be solved using conventional approach. The other hand, the task of role disambiguation is unique nature of emoji. We focus on solving role ambiguity using learning algorithm. In order to handle pictograms, this paper also treats a method generating a dictionary that maps pictograms to corresponding concepts.
