Abstract

Purpose of this study is to examine how the generated movement may change by transferring verbal physical skill to the trainee experimentally, and discuss the conditions of change. We transferred typical pitching movement skill, trajectory of the center of gravity to the trainee. The trainee practiced the skill for about 10 minutes. We have conducted controlled trial in order to study intervention effect to the ball speed of both groups. Ball speed improved for both groups: average ball speed of control group increased for 3.3 km/h while that of intervention group increased for 4.4 km/h. However, there were no significant difference between both groups. Then, we investigated the result of each trainee respectively, and found that number of trainee whose ball speed increased was larger for intervention group compared to control group. In control group, number of trainee whose ball speed increased was 7 among 18. In intervention group, that whose speed ball speed increased was 11 among 18. Experimental result suggests that transfer of verbal physical skill may change the generated movement of trainee towards the targeted movement in a short period of time.
