The objective of this study is to analyse the mechanism of formation of biomass resources such as rice husk, rice straw, peanut shell, bark of wood, and stem of Sugi and Hinoki trees using the roller desk type pelleting machine.
The effect of the water content of the material, inner diameter of holes formed on the desk die and the presence of binding materials, etc. on the process of pelletization was studied experimentally.
Quantitative determinations of the major mechanical properties of the pellets such as apparent density, compression strength, bending strength and shearing resistance and coefficient of crushing to pieces were also performed.
