When the sunflower oil was used as diesel engine fuel, the ignitability at low temperatures was much poorer than diesel oil. In order to find the cause, the behavior of the sunflower oil spray injected in the combustion chamber has analyzed in Part 1. In this paper, a combustion phenomenon of the fuel particles injected in the combustion chamber was theoretically analysed to investigate the engine startability.
The sunflower oil showed a ignition lag which is about 5.8 times longer than No. 2 diesel oil. Consequently if they were injected in the same combustion chamber under the same conditions, sunflower oil was more difficult to be ignited than No. 2 diesel oil. The chemical ignition lag was 1.2 times longer with sunflower oil than with No. 2 diesel oil, because of the difference of an activated energy. The physical ignition lag of sunflower oil was about 25 times longer than that of No. 2 diesel oil because of the larger size of the injected particle.

The objective of this study is to analyse the mechanism of formation of biomass resources such as rice husk, rice straw, peanut shell, bark of wood, and stem of Sugi and Hinoki trees using the roller desk type pelleting machine.
The effect of the water content of the material, inner diameter of holes formed on the desk die and the presence of binding materials, etc. on the process of pelletization was studied experimentally.
Quantitative determinations of the major mechanical properties of the pellets such as apparent density, compression strength, bending strength and shearing resistance and coefficient of crushing to pieces were also performed.

Regarding the fundamental study of the Hill Side Tractor, the side slip test of model tyre on the steep slope condition was done by using the side slip testing apparatus, but sometimes the reproducible data could not be obtained under the same test conditions. This result was based upon the diffrent conditions of the tyre and the non perfect tyre warming-up process.
Therefore, the main object of this study was to establish the method of pre-warming-up process of tyre, and to clarify the effect of the pre-warming-up process by using the SEM (scanning electon microscope) and an instrument for the measurement of surface roughness by the stylus method.
This paper describes also on the relationship between tyre leaning angle and tyre characteristic. coefficient of friction, the distribution of contact pressure, and the contact imprints by tyre pressure analizer.

In the previous papers, the studies were focused on draft force reduction on a vibrating subsoiler. The purpose of this paper is to describe the characteristics of power requirements on a vibrating subsoiler and to investigate the effects of the cutting directional angle β, amplitude a, frequency f and velocity ratio λ on soil cutting horsepower ratio Ps and total horsepower ratio Pt.
Soil cutting horsepower ratio Ps can be defined as a change of energy to brake the soil on vibratory tillage against non-vibratory tillage. Total horsepower ratio Pt shows a change of energy to operate the tested subsoiler on vibratory tillage against non-vibratory tillage.
Soil cutting horsepower ratio Ps and total horsepower ratio Pt were not affected seriously by the cutting directional angle β and increased as velocity ratio λ decreased. At the same velocity ratio λ, the greater the amplitude or the smaller the frequency, the smaller both Pt and Ps became.

In order to determine the standard design parameters required for the basic design of a specific gravity separator of down-flow type, which stratifies and separates bulk materials, the husked rice mixture in particular, into vertical layers according to specific gravity from bottom to top, basic researches on the separation of bulk materials differing in specific gravity were carried out. And, it became clear that (1) the optimum specifications of a perforated sheet metal screen with round opening which is mounted at the bottom of separating chamber are hole diameter d=∅1.5mm, hole pitch p=3.0mm and opening area ratio S0=9.4%, (2) the optimum frequency of sinusoidal pneumatic pulse vibration is fa=5Hz and (3) the specifications of a inclined porous separating screen can be determined easily by adopting the down-flow layer thickness of husked rice mixture h=20-40mm and the separating period required ts, req=40-100s for separating efficiency ηs=100%

In order to clarify the tillage resistance on the rotary blades, a new device for the measurement of six-components of force and moment acting on individual blades was developed, which is composed of triple cylinders and attached to the center-drive type transmission of tractors. By use of this device, a series of tillage tests for Japanese type rotary blade “nata-zume” was carried out changing the arrangement of blades. Representative examples of the measured waves of six-copmpnents of tillage resistance are illustrated. Further, the functional equation for the description of tillage resistance on a nata-zume is proposed introducing new fundamental parameters related to the shear length of soil. In accordance with this equation, three kinds of configuration value in the triangle wave which is the simplest approximation of the actual wave of tillage torque are formulated as linear double regression equations of those fundamental parameters.

To evaluate the characteristics of the rotational vibration of tractor (pitch, roll, yaw), a gravel road was selected and the angular accelerations of 3 tractors were measured and analyzed. The angular acceleration was calculated from accelerations measured by 9 accelerometers. Consequently, the pitch and yaw rotational vibrations were affected by the irregularities of terrain and the roll rotational vibration was affected not only by the irregularities of terrain, but also by lugs of rear wheels. And it seems that the magnitude of the yaw rotational vibration was negligibly small.

This investigation was carried out to evaluate a feasibility of composting and a sterilizing effect by the Beltsville aerated-pile method on beet sugar manufactory wastes.
The tested materials from manufactory were composed from the residual soil which was separated from raw beet piles (piler soil), the dehydrated surplus sewage sludge and the concentrated steffen filtrate (C. S. F.), and the wheat straw was added as bulking agent and sources of carbon.
The composting period during aeration was 23 days and the curing period was 43 days. The central temperature of this compost pile reached over 60°C within 3 to 7 days and the highest temperature was 81.9°C. Organic matter was decomposed sufficiently during composting and curing periods, and also the pasteurizing effect by heat generated in composting on waste soil was very satisfactory.

A factorial experiment on the pre-treatments by using the two legumes and the two press machines was carried out. It was shown that the advantages of the piling pre-treatment from some points such as a rate of press, a consumed electric energy and an amount of total nitrogen in juice fraction. Although it was possible to obtain more total nitrogen in the processed juice by piling compared with the other methods from a material balance, this was caused by the high value of rate of press and by the increment of non-protein nitrogen during piling. EAA (Essential amino acid) index of the processed juice by piling seemed to be equivalent to the EAA of soybean, the piling for an useful method was proposed in order to obtain the leaf protein effectively.

In order to judge the result of tillage, we bust establish the test methods for evaluating the change of soil conditions. We unst numerize the state of soil clods or the state of turning over soil layer. But many problems are stacked on clod size analysis.
There are no standard methods, such as sampler sizes, system of openings of sieves and so on. No valuable method how to express the sieved clod size is generally found.
In this report, the following properties were clarified. The clod size distribution can be well approximated with Rayleigh's distribution and by using the two parameters of Rayleigh's distribution, the followings can be obtained easily; the mean clod diameter in weight, its standard deviation and so on. By this method, the parameters were obtained regardless of the series of openings of sieves. So this method can be recommended for valuable clod size analysis.
