Abstract

In order to clarify the tillage resistance on the rotary blades, a new device for the measurement of six-components of force and moment acting on individual blades was developed, which is composed of triple cylinders and attached to the center-drive type transmission of tractors. By use of this device, a series of tillage tests for Japanese type rotary blade “nata-zume” was carried out changing the arrangement of blades. Representative examples of the measured waves of six-copmpnents of tillage resistance are illustrated. Further, the functional equation for the description of tillage resistance on a nata-zume is proposed introducing new fundamental parameters related to the shear length of soil. In accordance with this equation, three kinds of configuration value in the triangle wave which is the simplest approximation of the actual wave of tillage torque are formulated as linear double regression equations of those fundamental parameters.
