Development of Test Devices for Mechanical Properties of Soil and Cutting Test of Soil by Double-Blade Moldboard Plow

Abstract

A series of studies were conducted to develop a double blade moldboard plow which has a sub blade in front of moldboard and break the soil with relative movement of the sub blade and share. In the first part of these studies, basic studies were made to develop a test device to measure mechanical properties of soil, especially tensile strength of soil by using co-axial cylinders. A series of basic soil cutting tests were made by double blade tillage device in a soil bin to find optimal sub blade position with minimum power.
