Abstract

It is important to predict the rate of moisture transfer among the cereal grain from the standpoint of practical use because the grains are sometimes mixed with the dried stored grains at commercial grain drying facilities called Rice Center and Country Elevator in the case of the excess in the capacity.
A simulation model, as well as drying, was based on diffusion. However, the model is characterized with the existence of constant equilibrium moisture content between wet and dry grains, the second kind boundary condition, and the existence of the hysteresis in absorption and desorption of moisture.
The calculated moisture reductions and increases are agreed very well with the experimental results which we observed for five temperatures and a combination of initial moisture contents.
