Abstract

The optimization of tractor engine performance was discussed from the viewpoint of power train control for tractor operation system. It was proposed that the control methods of tractor power train could be classified into three kinds according to the engine performance diagram, i. e, the highest working efficiency control, the highest fuel efficiency control and the optimum fuel efficiency control. The purpose of this series is to develop basic software and hardware of multipurpose control system based on the analysis on the control methods. In this paper, an experimental system was designed and constructed by using a tractor with a hydrostatic transmission as a control object.
Furthermore, the desired values and the control inputs were obtained in order to develop computer control program. The effects of the parameters on the control system were also investigated. In the following paper, the field tests on the optimum fuel efficiency control will be reported.
