The purpose of this study is to develop a screw type feeder for distributing powdered and granular nematicides into soil. The performance characteristics and the practicality of the feeder were investigated. The following restlts were obtained:
The coefficients of variation of delivery rates were smaller than 5%, though the performance of the screw feeder was effected by the rotational cycles of the screw shaft. It was proved that the screw feeder is suitable for feeding out powdered and granular nematicides, if the form and size of screw were selected and operated at the proper speed corresponding to the physical properties of materials. A screw pitch of 18.7cm and a radial clearance of 2.0mm were found to be suitable for feeding powder and small granules.
