Abstract
A simple measuring method of respiration rate of grain was investigated. Since respiration rate is usually measured using the adsorption rate of carbon dioxide to some adsorbent, the measuring system becomes fairly complicated.
In this report, the respiration rate is calculated by measuring the decreasing process of oxygen concentration in the air-tight box with the galvanic type of oxygen meter. So, the measuring system becomes simple, and it is possible to measure in short time.
The procedure to calculate the respiration rate is shown, and the respiration characteristics of several kinds of grains are discussed.
In the next report, the respiration rate will be applied as the index of grain quality.
