Abstract

Two types of rice transplanters were remodeled to transplant long mat type hydroponic rice seedlings in paddy fields. The working accuracy of these transplanters were: the damaged seedling rate was 30-60% and the minimum missing hill rate after rooting was 3%, when the number of plants per hill was 5-10 and the working speed was 0.4-1.1m/s. The working rate of the transplanters were 21-35a/h when the working speed was 0.5-0.8m/s and the working width was 1.5-1.8m. From these data it can be deduced that the working rate will be approximately 50a/h when the working speed is 1.0m/s and the working width is 1.8m. The growth and yield of long mat type hydroponic rice seedlings were surmised to be almost the same as those of ordinary mat type rice seedlings raised in soil bed, although more detailed comparison will be needed hereafter.
