The sorting system which was developed previously by us was used to supply the strawberries in the same direction and judge them according to shape and size. However, for automatic sorting system, the computer must be able to judge the strawberry placed at any angle from 0 to 360 degrees. Therefore, a software to determine the correct direction of strawberry at any position was developed. In this study, strawberries of Akihime variety were used to verify the new software which was developed this time.
To test the performance of the direction software, the characteristic features of maximum diameter, height and angle were extracted from the images of class A and B strawberry samples and the standard error and t-test statistical methods for analysis were done. The results showed that the standard error were very small for all the parameters measured. Also, from the t-test analysis, the mean value of parameters extracted in each angle was not different compared to that of the standard 0° position. Hence, the ability of the developed software to determine the correct direction of the strawberry was confirmed.
