Abstract

It is anticipated that the grinding performance of wheat in the flour milling process varies according to the wear conditions of grinding roll corrugations. In this report, consideration was given to the wear characteristics on popular chilled cast iron rolls from a micro-structural viewpoint. Furthermore, chilled cast iron rolls were installed to the first break grinding process (1B) on soft wheat and then the wear of the roll corrugations and the influence on the stock were examined. The results show that the high-speed side and low-speed side have different wearing characteristics. Also, it has been confirmed that the use of the wear rolls increases the temperature rise of the roll surface and ground stock.
