Abstract
The purpose of this study is to improve operator ergonomics especially for operator seat, and to research actual situations of driving position during farm work. Driving time, frequency of looking back, and operating time during farm work were measured.
It was found that the tractor operator holds the steering wheel only with his left hand, and his face and body are facing diagonally to the right while operating in the field. The average rate of looking back is 4% to 7% during seeding and transplanting, and it is 30% to 50% during spraying and harvesting.
As a result, it is important to understand these real operating conditions for tractor seat design and seat mounting position so the driver can look back comfortably.
