Abstract

The possibility of retracting corrugated underdrain pipes over the levee of a paddy field was examined using a drainpipe retractable implement with an underdrain specification and a tractor with 35.0 kW or more, after selecting the retracting depths and speeds. As a result, with a semi-crawler tractor of 47.8 kW or more, it was possible to retract corrugated underdrain pipes 400-600 mm below the ground surface from the water outlet side to the water inlet side. At 500 mm below the ground surface, it was possible to achieve a retracting speed of 0.20-0.60 m/s, adapt to soft field conditions, and retract with a 35.0 kW wheel tractor. This study confirmed that the underdrain could be built using only a tractor and this implement.
