Development of Drainpipe Retractable Implement with Farm Tractor for Underdrain (Part 1)

──Outline of Implement and Shape of Reel Unit──

Abstract

　We developed a drainpipe retractable implement capable of constructing a new underdrain using only a tractor. The possibility of adaptability to various types of levees and the ability to separate and combine the reel unit and main body were examined. We found that the shape of the implement should be mostly suitable for overpassing the levee 400-600 mm below the ground surface. In addition, it was suggested that for smooth and stable separation and combination, the inclination angle of the reel stand and the extended arm should be closer at the separation, and that a gap of about 100 mm between the top of the main body and the bottom of the reel stand should be provided.
