Abstract
We manufactured portable water purification apparatus for peritoneal dialysate and evaluated it basically. It weighs 6.7kg and is too small to be put in the attache case for carrying. In this apparatus, tap water is purified in aseptic and non-pyrogenic state with ion exchange resin and ultrafiltration filter of hollow fiber type (polypropylene membrane), and then is mixed with concentrated dialysate.
Ultrafiltration was performed only by the negative pressure generated in suppling water. UFR was about 1L/min in 2kg/cm2. Tap water was deionized from 200 to 0.1-1.0μV/cm in electric conductivity with ion exchange resin. Treated water proved to be safe qualitatively and bacteriologically.
We will be able to perform clinical trial in the near future.
