Abstract
A closed type pulsatile extracorporeal circuit has been developed instead of conventional perfusion by a roller pump. This is composed of alternate pump ing double chambers (right heart), a membrane oxygenator, a heat exchanger and a pulsatile pumping chamber (left heart). The possible short tubing aims at the small priming volume. Hydrodynamic charactaristics of each element and of the whole system combined with a MOCK circulation were investigated. Bypassing between the right reservoir and the left reservoir proved to reduce the interaction between the right heart system and the left. In the right heart system, the regurgitation by heart valves and the excess rigidity of the hollow fiber oxygenator turn out to be improved.
