Abstract
We developed a new membrane oxygenator (PS-AL) which consists of microporous polysulfone hollow fibers, 205μ in inner diameter and 293μ in outer diameter.
The surface area available for gas exchange was 1.1m2. Gas exchange performance was obtained in vitro and in animal experimental studies. Oxygen gas transfer rate was 95.6±3.83mL/min/m2 and carbon dioxide gas transfer rate was 63.7mL/min/m2 (QB 1500mL/min, Gas Flow Ratio 1.0).
