Abstract
A new hepatic support system has been developed in which powdered activated charcoals are embedded porous polyetherurethane sheet (UPC) with thickness about 200μm. UPC is superior to bead type charcoal (10-fold) and Amberlite XAD-7 (5-fold) for the adsorption of Bilirubin (Bil) in vitro. Hemoperfusion with jaundice dogs, the maximum removal rate of Bil was about 80% of inital.
