Abstract
The activated charcoal which is derived from thermosetting resin, was further coated with silicone in order to utilize clinically safely. The charcoal is more rigid than the most kinds of activated charcoal in the medical use. Both in vitro and in vivo experiments showed the charcoal also adsorbed amino acids and bilirubin etc. as well as other charcoal. Blood cell deformation and platelet loss with the charcoal were less than those with the uncoated charcoal.
