Abstract
A new designed cardiac ventricular assist device system for clinical use, which consists of two blood pumps and a driving control unit, has been developed and evaluated in vitro and in vivo. The blood pump is a sac type with two B-S valves. The pump and two cannulae are made of PVC coated by Cardiothane. The driving unit is an air driven type and the size is very compact (77cm wide, 47cm deep and 110cm high). Driving conditions can be changed by the remote controller from surgical field.
