Abstract
In 18 experiment 36 kidneys were perfused - one pulsatile (P) and one non-pulsatile (NP) in each pair, all kidneys showed good function after autotransplantation. On histological findings of preserved kidneys, there were plugging of fibrin in the glomerular capillary tufts, with slight thickening of the basement membrane, regardless of the pumping systems, although these morphologic alterations were moderate in P perfusion and minimal in NP. These morphologic changes were also found in arterioles in P perfusion. NP perfusion is less potentially damaging to the kidney.
