Abstract

From Novenber, 1975 to March 1983, we implanted 275 porcine xenograft in mitral position. 123 cases were Hancock valves and 152 cases were Carpentier-Edwards valves. There were 12 hospital deaths, for a mortality of 4.4%. There were few thromboembolism (3 cases), valve dysfunction (2 cases) and infective endocarditis (one case).
