An eight-year follow-Lip study of 604 patients undergoing mitral valve replacement with tilting disc valve and porcine xenograft showed that there was no significant difference in incidence of late mortality and infectious endocardi tis. While the rereplacement rate was twice higher in xenograft, the thromboembolism occurred 3 times more frequently in disc-valve.
