Abstract
A wearable artificial endocrine pancreas with a needle-type glucose sensor enables the long-term glycemic control in diabetics. In order to assure reliable glycemic monitoring by the needle-type glucose sensor inserted in sc tissue, a new glucose monitoring system was developed, in which sensor outputs were transmitted telemetrically to the receiver. Reliable and stable glycemic monitorings with this system were established in ambulatory diabetic patients. These data indicate the usefulness of this system for a wearable artificial endocrine pancreas and also for a self glucose monitoring.
