New hydrogel from Polyviny alcohol and its fundamental study for medical application

Abstract

We have prepared new hydrogel from Polyvinyl alcohol wich has rubber-like-elasticity. Its water content is 80-90wt% but it is insoluble in water. Its medical application has been studied. During the implantation, its water content did not change and it did not adhere to the tissue around it. Histologically inflammation, degeneration and granulation were not noticed at the tissue around the implanted PVA gel. This new material was examined for non-adhesive membrane in the living body.
