Abstract
Pre-clinical studies has been required for evaluating the biocompatibility and the safty of newly developed material. When extracorporeal circulations wereperformed on dogs with clinical circuits and material, the temperature of them decreased gradually. But few paper mentioned the importance of well-conditibned temperature of experimental animal body. In our studies, shortened circuits kept body temperature well. Body temperature affected blood cell kinetics and complement titer, which were one of the best parameter of biocompatibility. Preservation of body temperature is necessary to evaluate the biocompatibility, the effect and the safety of blood perfused artificial organs in experimental animals.
