Abstract
In 88 patients, various operations using extracorporeal circulation without donorblood were performed from June, 1987. Autologous blood was collected by “leapfrog” method before operation. 43 patients(48.9%)under went open heart surgery without donor blood. These 88 patients were divided into 2 groups. In the I st group(before 1989), 21 patients(35.6%) did not any receive donor blood transfusion. In the II-nd group(from 1990), 22 patients(75.9%) did not receive donor blood transfusion. The volume of preoperative autologous blood collection, the perfusion time, the volume of postoperative bleeding were the important factors to achieve open heart surgery without donor blood.
