Abstract
It has been a serious problem to control a percutaneous access connecting the artificial heart device to an external power source for chronic use. Especially, intractable focal infection would frequently lead to oblige to terminate the experiment having combined general infection. Accordingly we have designed a serial experimental evaluation of various skin buttons implanted into the calves in order to investigate the incidence of infection and the degree of tissue reaction. Thus we concluded that the dacron felt skin button with silastic buffer would be the most suitable at the present time.
