New experimental apparatus has been developed simulated of wind-kessel theory as a elastic model of arterial system. That is, the relation of the repeating frequency, the amount of flow, resistance of valve and the compliance of the specimen, to maximum pressure, minimum pressure and the pressure difference in this developed apparatus was experimentally proved to be similar to the relation of the cardiac frequency, cardiac output, peripheral resistance and the compliance of artery, to systolic pressure, diastolic pressure and pulse pressure in artery system, respectively.
Using this apparatus, the characteristics of water leakage through the vascular substitute of woven Tetron was studied under pulsating, constant and combined pulsating and constant pressure, respectively.
These experimental results show non-steady effect of water, say, pulsatiled pressure, is significant factor of leakage characteristics from vascular substitute. Some other effects are also studied. Furthermore hydrodynamical model of leakage characteristics has been proposed and shown in good agreement with experimental characteristics.
