One hour of ECC with perfluorochemical emulsion (FDA) was performed in 5 calves. Approximately 5.3 L of FDA was used for priming solution and 10.9g/kg of FDA was retained in the body after ECC. The lowest hematocrit was 8.2% on the average and PaO2 was remained approximately 400mmHg during perfusion. There was no remarkable change in electrolyte and blood osmorality in Whole experiment. Three of 5 calves are surviving in excellent conditions. Blood chemistry in these animals showed normal values after surgery. Liver biopsy for histopathologic exami nation were performed on 12th, 40th, and 60th day of surgery in a calf. Foam cells in the liver tended to reduced gradually in the course of time.
