The
hierarchy of laminarialean algae by molecular phylogenetic analyses
has been proposed actively in late years. Here, the recent findings
are considered, and the hierarchy on kelp in Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu,
Sikoku, Kyushu) is reviewed and 37 species belonging to 7 families are
enumerated.
